What Is an ITR Number (FWCMS ITR)?
An ITR (Insurance Transaction Reference) number is a unique reference generated by the FWCMS system (Foreign Worker Centralised Management System).
In Malaysia, the ITR number is used to:
- Link foreign worker insurance to the worker’s permit application
- Enable the purchase of SPIKPA IG insurance
- Allow FWCMS to automatically verify insurance status for permit renewal
The ITR acts as a mandatory reference that connects insurance purchase with Malaysia Immigration (JIM) requirements.
Why Is the ITR Number Important for SPIKPA & IG Insurance?
The ITR number is required because:
- Insurance purchases must be traceable within FWCMS
- FWCMS uses the ITR to confirm insurance compliance
- Permit renewal (ePLKS) proceeds automatically only after insurance is verified via ITR
Without a valid ITR number, SPIKPA IG insurance cannot be processed through FWCMS.
How to Use the ITR Number for SPIKPA and IG Insurance
Once you have successfully generated your ITR number from FWCMS, follow these steps on the eInsurans platform:
- Enter the ITR for SPIKPA and ITR for IG in the designated fields
(as highlighted in the yellow box in Figure 1)
- Enter your business registration number (SSM) during the purchase process

What Happens After a Successful Insurance Purchase?
After SPIKPA IG insurance is purchased using the ITR number:
- The insurance company automatically sends confirmation to FWCMS
- FWCMS updates the insurance status to “Insurance Purchased”
- The ePLKS (Foreign Worker Permit) renewal process continues automatically
- No manual submission or SPIKPA slip upload is required
